What makes Bare Ware the best stainless steel lunch box for kids?
We built Bare Ware because we were tired of plastic containers that warped, stained, and left us wondering what was leaching into our kids' food. Our lunch boxes are made from premium 304 food-grade stainless steel, which is completely non-porous. This means no lingering smells from last week’s lunches, zero microplastics, and no harmful chemicals. Plus, our multi-compartment bento box designs keep foods perfectly separated because we know picky eaters eat with their eyes first!
Are your lunch boxes completely plastic-free and BPA-free?
Yes! We are on a mission to help families reduce their reliance on single-use plastics and toxic materials. Every Bare Ware product is 100% plastic-free. We use only premium food-grade stainless steel and food-grade, BPA-free silicone for our leak-resistant gaskets. You can pack your child’s lunch with total peace of mind, knowing their food will never touch harmful chemicals like BPA, PVC, or phthalates.
What comes with The Bare Box and The Daily Lunch Set?
Our flagship product, The Bare Box: 5-Compartment Lunch Box, features a durable stainless steel frame with five built-in sections and a removable silicone gasket to keep everything secure.
If you choose The Daily Lunch Set, you’ll receive the stainless steel lunch box along with our Bare Nesting Containers, perfect for dips, sauces, or extra snacks that need their own space.
Where are Bare Ware products manufactured?
Bare Ware products are responsibly manufactured in China by trusted production partners who specialize in high-quality stainless steel. We work closely with them to ensure every lunch box meets our strict standards for safety, durability, and ethical manufacturing.
Are Bare Ware lunch boxes leakproof?
Our lunch boxes are designed with a removable, food-grade silicone gasket that creates a leak-resistant seal. This prevents thicker foods—like yogurt, hummus, or cottage cheese—from mixing between compartments during the morning commute. However, they are not designed for thin, watery liquids like soups or very juicy fruits. For runny liquids, we recommend using a dedicated leakproof thermos or container.
Care & Everyday Use
Is my stainless steel bento box dishwasher safe?
Absolutely. We know parents don’t have time for endless hand-washing. The entire Bare Ware lunch box including the stainless steel base and the silicone gasket is dishwasher safe. For the deepest clean, we recommend removing the silicone gasket before placing both pieces in the dishwasher. Effortless cleanup means more calm, grounded mornings for you.
Will the lunch box keep my child's food hot?
Bare Ware lunch boxes are not insulated thermoses. While stainless steel naturally retains temperature slightly better than thin plastic, it will not keep soups or pastas piping hot until lunchtime. They are perfect for room-temperature or cold lunches like sandwiches, wraps, fruits, veggies, and dry snacks.
Can I put Bare Ware in the microwave?
No. Because our products are made of solid stainless steel, they cannot be used in the microwave or the oven.
Shipping, Returns & Orders
When will my Bare Box 5 ship?
For orders that were made after August 13th: any orders containing the new Bare Box 5 with Top-Mounted Latch are expected to ship the week of August 31, 2026. If your order contains additional items, your full order will ship together once your Bare Box 5 is ready.
What is your return policy?
Customer satisfaction is our top priority. If you or your kiddos aren't completely happy with your Bare Ware purchase, we accept returns within 30 days of purchase. Items must be unused, unwashed, and in their original packaging.
To start a return, simply email us at hello@shopbareware.com with your order number. Please note that return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer and will be deducted from your refund once the items are inspected at our warehouse.
What are your shipping options, and do you ship internationally?
We currently ship exclusively within Canada. We are proud to be a Canadian-owned business shipping locally, which means no surprise duties at checkout!
We offer standard shipping (3–7 business days) and provide FREE shipping on orders over $99 CAD. For orders under $99 CAD, shipping rates are $12 to Ontario/Quebec and $17 for the rest of Canada. Orders are typically processed within 1–2 business days. We’re working hard to expand our shipping options internationally soon join our newsletter to be the first to know!
Do you use sustainable packaging?
Yes! We believe that small swaps add up for your family and the planet. All Bare Ware orders are shipped in plastic-free, recyclable packaging.
Can I change or cancel my order? If you need to adjust or cancel your order, please email us as soon as possible. We process orders quickly (usually within 1-2 business days), but if your package hasn't shipped yet, we will do our absolute best to accommodate your request.
